Bloop Laundry Soap Review
Softness: Linens, towels, and clothing are softer and cleaner than ever. Before using Bloop, all of my laundry felt like it had a waxy, unnatural coating. That stiff texture and strange coating is gone. I was able to drop fabric softener and dryer sheets all together.
Performance: I am extremely particular about cleanliness. I do not stress whether or not Bloop is getting my laundry clean. It gives great suds and has gentle, but effective, cleaning agents like coco glucoside, decyl glucoside, potassium cocoate, and sodium bicarbonate. Dirt and stains are lifted and color stays... a real problem with other natural brands was that they stripped the color from my garments, especially cotton and cotton blends.
* Bloop uses food-grade polysorbate. I confirmed with the founder that it is 1,4-dioxane-free. I would be remiss if I didn't emphasize in my review that Bloop Laundry Soap, by far, has the cleanest ingredients without any tradeoff in performance.
Scents: Yes Bloop! They nailed it in this department. Bloop offers the most unique and beautiful scents when it comes to natural laundry soap.
Stone Fruit: Apricot, Peach, Plum, & Notes of Brown Sugar. It's like walking barefoot through a peach orchard on a warm sunny day. It's the best scent in the Bloop line for sure, but the downside is that this scent doesn't linger as much I as I would like after a few days.
Salt Air: Mandarin Orange, Sea Water, Clary Sage, & Driftwood. Pays homage to a sophisticated coastal soiree at sunset. Crisp. Fresh. Delightful. Perfect potency and staying power.
Super Bloom: Passionfruit, Peony, & Notes of Vanilla Orchid. Gives that laying back in a field of flowers, looking at the clouds feeling. A sonic boom of floral. The strongest of all the Bloop scents and most staying power of all the scents. It's a little strong for me, but I still enjoy it in the rotation. I can only use this scent on clothing, not towels or bed linens.
Care Free: If you prefer fragrance-free, Bloop offers this unscented option.
Cost: In the grand scheme of natural laundry soaps, Bloop is pretty comparable in price. You'll average about $0.63/load with the variety 4-pack. It is a concentrated formula, so you need to look at more than just the fluid ounces for the price. Most mainstream detergents are full of water (the most prevalent ingredient). Bloop cartons, not samples, come with a measuring cup. Trust the dosage... you really do only need that little. Like watching animals at the zoo, I studied the wash cycles to see the suds and finally convinced myself, that's really all I need. Additionally, the cost of going non-toxic with Bloop is offset by the money you will save from not having to purchase jugs of toxic fabric softener and boxes of microplastic-filled dryer sheets.
Please check out my Toxins in Laundry Detergent post if you are apprehensive about going non-toxic. Conventional laundry detergents do not deserve the trust we've placed in them for so many years. Non-toxic laundry soaps get your laundry clean, safely.
* I use an LG front load washing machine and have a whole home water softener.
